Meyba – they of the iconic and extremely shiny Barcelona shirts of the 80s and early 90s – are releasing a new collection paying sweet homage to their love affair with Spanish football.
The brand was born in Catalonia in the 1940s when pals José Mestre and Joaquín Ballbé (or ‘Me-y-Ba’) began crafting classic sports and swimwear. But it was in 1981 that Meyba rose to international prominence when Barca chose the firm to manufacture its jerseys.
During the decade or so that the team were clad in Meyba’s delicious kits they won virtually everything, including the Champions League at Wembley in 1992, where they dazzled opponents Sampdoria in a famous orange shirt, complete with blaugrana sleeves.

Now Meyba is releasing its Meyba Archive II collection, available exclusively at the Cruyff Store Barcelona and the Cruff Store Amsterdam, from January 17.
The collection includes FC Barcelona Wembley '92, FC Barcelona Blue Away '89, FC Barcelona Rare Red '90, FC Barcelona Blaugrana '83, FC Barcelona Urruti Jacket, and FC Barcelona Warm up Tee.
Meyba also made jerseys for Espanyol, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid, and so the archive collection also includes Espanyol Home ’80, Betis Home ’80, and Atlético Home ’80.
