AKFC release a new shirt every season with the 2021/2022 edition representing the third instalment since the ‘club’ was founded.
Designed by renowned creative agency and football-for-good specialists HeyBigMan! and manufactured by iconic sports brand Hummel.
AKFC is Alive and Kicking’s (AK) fictional football team that exists to use football as a force for good. Every shirt sold and every new AKFC member supports the work of AK across hundreds of communities facing disadvantage.
Put simply, the Charity uses the lifecycle of a football to grow and strengthen communities. The production of AK balls creates hundreds of ethical jobs for adults from vulnerable job groups, over 95% of which have never had a job before.
Once made, AK utilise their community partnerships to deliver sport and health programmes to thousands of young people, with the AK ball taking centre stage as the key delivery tool.
All proceeds from AKFC shirt sales and AKFC memberships are used to drive the Charity’s impact – creating better access to ethical jobs, sport and vital health education.
Impact
To give an idea of impact, during the 2020/2021 season alone, AKFC was able to:
– Support 142 AK employees from vulnerable job groups as well as their 711 dependents.
– Give 78,750 children access to sport through the donation of AK footballs and the delivery of AK sport programmes
– Give 8,533 young people weekly access to vital health education and services
‘I’m very happy to be part of AKFC and to continue to use football as a force for good!’’
