What is an official reissue football shirt?

A reissue football shirt is a later, officially licensed reproduction of a classic kit. It gives you the look of an original shirt from the era without having to track down a 30 or 40-year-old example in exactly the right size and condition.

That distinction matters. An original vintage football shirt was produced during the season itself. An official reissue is made later, with permission to recreate the original design. It shouldn’t be confused with a counterfeit or an unofficial retro-inspired shirt.

The best reissues go much further than simply copying the colours. Sponsors, badges, numbering, collars and fabrics can all reference the original, bringing back details that instantly place a shirt in a particular season.
