One of the most iconic and successful figures to have played for Middlesbrough FC is Juninho. He joined the club in 1995 and went on to win the Fans' Player of the Year award in 1997 and he also helped lead the team to the FA Cup final and the League Cup final in the same season. He left the club in 1997 and returned to the club twice more in 1999 and 2002. During his third spell with the team he helped guide them to their first and at the time of writing their only major honour when Boro won the 2003/04 League Cup Final, defeating Bolton 2-1 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Some of the historical players who have played for the club include George Camsell, Wilf Mannion, Bernie Slaven and Gareth Southgate. These players were known for their skill, technical abilities and leadership on the field, and have become fan favourites and legends of the club. Historical managers have included Jack Charlton and Bryan Robson.
