Nine in a row and a ridiculous 90s squad

The 1990s were a defining period for Rangers.

Walter Smith’s side matched Celtic’s historic record of nine consecutive league titles in 1997, with players such as Ally McCoist, Brian Laudrup, Richard Gough, Andy Goram and Paul Gascoigne becoming synonymous with the era.

The shirts were just as memorable.

adidas produced some brilliant early-90s designs before Nike arrived later in the decade, while sponsors such as McEwan’s Lager became inseparable from classic Rangers kits.

From Manchester 2008 to another league title

Rangers reached the UEFA Cup final in 2008 after a remarkable European run under Walter Smith, with Barry Ferguson captaining the side as tens of thousands of supporters travelled to Manchester.

More than a decade later, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers went unbeaten through the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season to reclaim the title.
