Brought to England by Leeds United in 1992 where he won the last old English First Division before the introduction of the Premier League. There was then controversy when he made the switch to arch rivals Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson insisted on signing Eric and was enamoured with the centre forward, he was made United captain and had many memorable goals and moments for the Red Devils. He retired from football at the tender age of 30, despite protestations from Sir Alex, he could not dissuade Cantona from calling time on his footballing career.
