As brands seek to explore new ideas for their football kits help can be sought from all sorts of places. It’s not often the call goes out to a former Prime Minister, but that’s exactly what hummel did for the creation of Brøndby’s 2025/26 away kit. The shirt brought together former PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt, a lifelong Brøndby fan, and fashion designer Soeren Le Schmidt and on the evidence of the punchy blue and yellow jersey the pair helped to create, they ought to team up more in future.

Continuing what has been a tradition of excellent blue away shirts from hummel and Brøndby over recent seasons, the 25/26 offering takes a creative slant with a pattern Le Schmidt describes as “more organic” than “the traditional graphic language of football kits”.
The switch up from sharper shapes like stripes or hoops is a welcome one, as the blurred edges of the yellow splotches produce intriguing tones with hints of green, with the more loose nature of the design offering something different to the typical gradient aesthetic.

Complementing the pattern is a matching yellow collar. Standing out in contrast to the blue base, the collar is joined by a yellow manufacturer logo and sponsor. Blue and yellow is a timeless colour combo in its own right but the notably vibrant shades on display bring out the best of the tandem.

Though easy to miss at first glance, hummel’s trademark chevrons round off the kit in the most subtle way taking on a cut-out style. Hummel’s experimentation with the look of their iconic logo has been a pleasing development, and it’s the kind of flexibility any brand ought to show in the modern kit game.
