14th June 2019, Manchester, UK. Dutch top-tier mainstays PSV Eindhoven reveals a 2019/20 away kit that is inspired by the historic club’s local pride, as well as it’s bold commitment to unity and inclusivity.
“EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT” reads the PSV motto. Founded over a century ago the idea that ‘Unity Makes Strength’ remains paramount to this; one of the Netherland’s largest teams. With a sleek black base, the PSV away strip for the 2019/20 season utilises a brave and ultra-modern colour palette and design that takes its cues as much from contemporary sports fashion as it does from the club’s proud regional and national heritage.
A Modern Nod to Tradition and Club Spirit
Originally founded as a team for employees of the Philips electronics company, the new PSV away kit for 2019/20 shows a scintillating neon orange emanating from the ‘lightbulb’ logo of their founding entity on the left-hand sleeve. In a warped checkerboard print, the sleeve design is a harmonious coming together of the pattern from the flag of North Brabant - the club’s home region - and the vibrant orange the unites the entire Netherlands through both regal and footballing pride.
The club’s iconic oval logo, and likewise the unmistakable double diamond of Umbro, is reimagined on the jersey in a tonal orange and black design. Sponsor branding and a bespoke rear-neck logo design provide flourishes of white, while the cut of the jersey features raglan sleeves for a close-wear fit, and a smart, stylised collar.
Constructed in a performance micro eyelet fabric, the jersey is both lightweight and durable; able to withstand the pressures of the modern game, whilst creating a versatile and eye-catching shirt for fans. The two primary colours of the jersey are reversed to striking effect on the shorts, which are made from a high stretch woven fabric to give maximum range of movement, and feature internal drawcords and an elasticated waistband. Completing the kit are black socks that utilise both a cotton footbed and ‘cool-zone’ technology on the instep, designed with flashes of orange via Umbro and PSV branding on the shin and calf.
