FEDERICO PASTOR

AKA @DysenteryFC.

CK: Who's your team?

FP: I'm a Manchester City fan since 2018. Prior to that, I didn't really follow club football all that much. I was more about International competitions (ex. World Cup, Euros, Copa America, etc.)

CK: For those reading about you for the first time, can you tell them a bit about yourself.

FP: I am 33 years old, born in the USA but my family is from South America. My mom is from Argentina and my dad is from Peru. I love football, Argentina and Manchester City being my two loves. Outside of football, I love playing video games, building LEGOs, and playing music. I am collector of many things like football shirts, video games, action figures, and pretty much anything that takes me back to the 90s.

CK: How did you get into collecting football shirts?

FP: My football shirt collection actually started because of my video game collection. I've been collecting video games for many years and when I was thinking about ideas of how to decorate my game room, I remembered the old football shirts that had video game sponsors.

It started with Arsenal's 2001 away shirt with the big SEGA sponsor, then some Seattle Sounders with the XBOX logo and I would hand those shirts on the wall of my game room. This was also around the 2018 World Cup.

It was Peru's big return to the World Cup, so I had to buy that shirt. Of course, I also had to buy Argentina's shirt. Then Man City won the Prem. Had to get that shirt. Then I just kept making excuses to buy other shirts like "well if I have the home shirt, I might as well buy the away shirt!" Then I would go to discount stores and find jerseys for $20 or less. 100 football shirts later, we are now here.

"Favourite shirts sometimes change over time as the collection grows and/or new kits come out. I will probably have to say my Argentina 2021 Maradona Tribute home shirt. It was worn by the team after Maradona had passed away and it was the shirt they wore during their Copa America win."

CK: Tell us about the first football shirt you ever owned.

FP: It was a bit after the 1998 World Cup. I was 9 years old and it was my first World Cup. Fell in love with Argentina and so my parents got me an Argentina shirt that was the 1997 Home Shirt. I'm sure it was cheaper than getting the current year one, but I didn't care. I don't have that shirt anymore, but I was able to buy one in my size recently.

CK: Would you say you have a fascination with kit history?

FP: I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the history of the kits, but I always love learning about the kits that I love. Sometimes browsing through kits, I will discover clubs I never heard of before which will lead me to want to learn more about them. I would like to get to a point where I can look at any kit and know what year it's from and the history/meaning behind the kit.

CK: Do you have a specific era that you like most when it comes to kits?

FP: 90s for sure. Takes me back to my childhood, my first World Cup, and my proper introduction to the sport. I do want to give 2006 an honourable mention, specifically adidas. Their kits were on point that year!

CK: What's your favourite kit in your personal collection?

FP: That is a tough one. Favourite shirts sometimes change over time as the collection grows and/or new kits come out. I will probably have to say my Argentina 2021 Maradona Tribute home shirt. It was worn by the team after Maradona had passed away and it was the shirt they wore during their Copa America win.

CK: If you had to pick your top 3 football shirts of all time, what would they be?

FP: Fiorentina 1997/98 Home shirt with the Nintendo sponsor, Jeff United with the Sega and Sonic sponsor (not sure what season/year it’s from), and River Plate 1998 Home shirt.

CK: If you could take one football shirt with you to a desert island, what would it be?

FP: I am guessing it has to be a shirt in my collection? If that's the case, I would probably bring my Toluca "Dia De Los Muertos" Third shirt. I think it would fit the island vibe! But, if I can choose a shirt I don't have in my collection, it would be any Fiorentina home shirt with the Nintendo logo. It's a shirt I have always wanted, and it represents all the things I like. It's a football shirt, it was my favourite video game company as a sponsor, and it was worn by Batistuta. There's no better shirt than that one in my opinion.
