RYAN CHENG

AKA @ryannismyname.

CK: Who's your team?

RC: Manchester United

CK: For those reading about you for the first time, can you tell them a bit about yourself.

RC: I am a storyteller from Melbourne, Australia. I run my own marketing consultancy working with brands to tell stories that matter to their communities. When I'm not doing that - I'm creating content about football with other creatives Down Under! OH and I love collecting kits and sneakers too!

CK: How did you get into collecting football shirts?

RC: I've always appreciated great design, so I would always buy kits that reflected that - beautiful colours and striking style. Then as I travelled, I would pick up kits from the cities I visited, and then they became stories more than pieces of memorabilia.

CK: Tell us about the first football shirt you ever owned.

RC: Real Madrid 06/07 - my dad bought it for me when as Beckham's move to the Galactico's left me devastated haha! It had all the official patches on it as well and gave me a taste of just how global our game truly was - Becks leaving Manchester for Madrid leaving a young Singaporean kid heartbroken.

"Some of the 90's kits are just amazing. You think of Ramberg's Dortmund classic, or some the United umbro classic, even MLS kits like Metro Stars absolutely SLAP!"

CK: Would you say you have a fascination with kit history?

RC: Only more recently, my entry point into kits was definitely style and design. But it really began with United's Green and Gold Newton Heath homage that revealed to me the power football kits can have; how they can pay respect to the past and rally the present all at the same time.

CK: Do you have a specific era that you like most when it comes to kits?

RC: Some of the 90's kits are just amazing. You think of Ramberg's Dortmund classic, or some the United umbro classic, even MLS kits like Metro Stars absolutely SLAP!

CK: If you could take one football shirt with you to a desert island, what would it be?

RC: All my kits are too nice to take to a desert island!!!
