Ever since adidas and Roma got back in bed with each other in 2023 the kit world has been waiting for one thing in particular: the return of the Trefoil in Rome.
adidas’ iconic logo was ever present during Roma x adidas part 1 (1991-1994) and the gradual reintroduction of the Trefoil to the adidas kit world over recent years (most notably in the celebrated collection of third kits last year) had set minds racing. News that Roma would become part of the elusive ‘elite tier’ built anticipation even further, and now we’re happy to confirm the good news.
The Trefoil has returned to the Italian capital, and it’s decked out in gold.
Roma’s 2025/26 Third Kit is a blend of classic elements with something of a progressive overall look.
Starting with the familiar, the base of the shirt is the classic colour of white. Traditionally an away kit colour, Roma have opted for a white third shirt this time round. Away and third kits have rarely been as interchangeable as they are now in 2025/26, and the decision speaks to how clubs and brands no longer see third kits more as the place to experiment and away kits as the place to stick to ‘club colours’.
Also familiar is the use of green. Utilised prominently as a third kit colour during 1940s and 50s, green would later be adopted as more of an infrequent choice for alternate kits. When the club did use green though the kits were outstanding, with efforts in 95/96 and 04/05 living long in the memory. In 2025 the colour is an accent colour rather than the main draw, and it’s paired with a vibrant gold.
All the key details including the aforementioned Trefoil, the sponsor and the crest stand out in the dazzling shade. And speaking of the crest, the “ASR” trigram, famously seen underneath Romulus and Remus for much of Roma’s history, is featured as a standalone wordmark.
Perhaps the best thing about this kit is the subliminal pattern. A detailed architectural design (a nod to Roman villas) covers the base of the shirt, and it adds plenty of interest for an already strong look. The industry wide shift back towards more subtle looks after the ‘in-your-face’ approach of the early 2020s has been a very welcome one, and the 25/26 Roma third shirt is the perfect example of how to dial things back without compromising on quality.
